What to Expect During Your Appointment
Here’s exactly what happens from check-in to checkout so you know what to expect and can arrive with confidence.
- Check in and consultLet your esthetician know which area(s) you’re having waxed, any skin concerns, and whether you’ve waxed before. First-time clients complete a brief intake form.
- Private room setupAll treatments are performed in a private room. Your esthetician will step out to give you privacy while you prepare for your service.
- Skin preparationThe treatment area is cleansed to remove any oils, sweat, or residue. Clean skin means better wax adhesion and a cleaner result.
- Wax applicationHard wax is applied in sections in the direction of hair growth. No strips — just warm wax applied directly to the skin.
- RemovalThe wax is removed quickly and efficiently. Hard wax grips the hair, not the skin, making the process more comfortable than you might expect.
- Completion and soothingA soothing oil or serum is applied post-wax to calm the skin and reduce any redness. Most clients are comfortable and out the door within 30–60 minutes depending on the service.
How to Prepare
A little preparation makes a big difference in your results. Here’s what to do before your appointment.
- Let hair grow to at least ¼ inch — 2–3 weeks after shaving. For back and chest, this is usually easy to achieve.
- Shower before your appointment and avoid applying oils, lotions, or deodorants to the area.
- Exfoliate gently the day before to help the wax grip the hair effectively.
- Wear clothing that’s easy to remove and comfortable afterward (e.g., a loose shirt for back or chest waxing).
Aftercare
How you care for your skin in the 24–48 hours following your appointment directly affects how long your results last and how your skin feels.
- Avoid hot showers and intense workouts for 24 hours after waxing.
- Skip tight-fitting clothing on waxed areas for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid fragranced products, heavy creams, and aftershave on the waxed area for 48 hours.
- Begin gentle exfoliation 48 hours after your appointment to prevent ingrown hairs, particularly on the chest and back.
- Most clients return every 4–6 weeks for back, chest, and shoulder waxing.
